We will spend some time out on location gathering information through
observation, sketches and photographs which will then be developed into
full blown paintings in the studio. Some of this time will be spent out in the
grounds of the hotel with the landscaped gardens including the lake with
reflections and the stream which runs through a group of trees giving
interesting play of light and shade.
We will also get out in the countryside and paint along the Brecon and
Monmouth Canal at places such as Goytre Wharf and/or Govilon Wharf
as well as Keepers pond on the edge of the Brecon beacons with views
of Sugar Loaf mountain near Abergavenny and Pen-y-Fan in the Brecon
Beacons giving plenty of variety of painting subjects.
Rob & Sian are both skilled in all aspects of watercolour and can help you
achieve your goals. On this Rob will focus on his passion for the broad
brush techniques of landscapes and Sian will show you to focus on closer
subjects by putting in detail into the smaller parts of the subject matter.
Rob will show you tricks for getting the amazing effects of water, light
and reflections so you get the most from your painting. With his
enthusiastic approach he will teach you many tips and techniques
through demonstrations and plenty of one-to-one teaching. He will show
you how to simplify scenes with the use of tone and colour.
Sian approaches each person's needs at a highly individual level and is
perfectly happy working with beginners as well as more experienced
painters who feel in need of new inspiration to make more progress.
Her interest in the exciting properties of watercolour lends itself to an
approach that encourages students to discover when to control the
medium and when to allow its freedom.
