Summary

Join Anne Blankson-Hemans on this exciting opportunity to paint in the

Peak District

where we will paint some varied scenery from panoramic views to

picturesque villages.

Holiday Details

There are many varied beautiful locations within the Peak District as well

as some stunning, rugged moorland scenes with beautiful panoramic

views. We will visit the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton and The River Wye in

Bakewell where we will paint the 14th century bridge. We will visit the

famous Castleton or one or more of the many other villages nearby. When

in Castleton will paint the stunning views of Winnats Pass.

About the Tutor

Anne's aim is to help students move beyond simply copying what they see

and instead gain the confidence to interpret the landscape in their own

way.

Working outdoors, you will begin by looking carefully at the scene,

exploring composition through quick thumbnail sketches and identifying

the key shapes, tonal values and colour relationships. She will give

demonstrations throughout the week, sharing her own approach to

simplifying the landscape and responding to changing light and

atmosphere.

Back in the studio, she will use the plein air sketches as the foundation for

more resolved paintings, exploring how to develop an initial response into

a finished work while retaining the freshness and energy of painting from

life.

There will be regular demonstrations, plenty of one-to-one tuition and

individual feedback throughout the course, with guidance tailored to each

student's experience and confidence.
