Randy Hale
Randy Hale's introduction to watercolour came about as an
undergraduate art major at Principia College above St. Louis. His mentor
and instructor was James Green, an original member of a coterie of
notable watercolourists coming out of Choinard and Art Centre in Los
Angeles during the the early 1930's. They included such notable names
as Robert Woods, Rex Brandt, Barse Miller, Milford Zornes and Millard
Sheets. These watercolorists were instrumental in creating a distinct
style that has become known as the California school of watercolour. And
one can easily recognize their influence in his own artistic work to this
day.
He also earned a graduate degree in business from the University of
Denver. But his immersion in studies at California's prestigious Art Center
College of Design in Pasadena, CA was where he crafted a solid
foundation in composition and design.
Art Centre propelled him into a long and successful career in design, project management and sales.
Since his return to Colorado in 2000 he has been involved with numerous art groups, served on multiple boards and
organized regional and national art exhibitions. His critique seminars, jurying shows, and providing entertaining painting
demonstrations have put him in demand by many organisations around the country over the last twenty years. Without
doubt, his true passion and strength has proven to be sharing his knowledge of painting as a teacher. His workshops
are popular with painters eager to learn.
