Finn was born in London in 1970 and studied illustration and fine art at
Univeristy including the Royal Collage of Art in London. He got his love
from painting initially from his parents who were both artists. He grew up
in the Norfolk Broads. He was involved in the music industry which took
him to the US but he settled on visual art as his key interest. He moved to
Barcelona in 2004 where he become a successful illustrator and he then
became involved in design.
For many years Finn lived and painted in Spain and then Belgium. Since his
return to the UK in 2023 he has been exhibiting regularly and he is
represented by Sladers Yard with whom he held the first solo show of his
landscape oil paintings here entitled 'Dreamscapes' in 2024.

He was the Winner of Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2023 when he was commissioned by Royal Museums
Greenwich to paint a seascape for the Van den Veldes exhibition at Queens House, Greenwich.
Finn's work is divided between traditional oil painting and large scale charcoal drawings. His oil paintings are chiefly
concerned with drawing out the connection between the artist's inner landscape with what is seen and depicted. In both
areas his aim is to connect to the environment and it is this that will form the focus of the practical work the students will
use to explore these themes through both the composition and execution of a finished painting.
