Catherine is a painter specialising in light-filled watercolours. She grew up

in rural Wiltshire but lived in SE Asia for eleven years where she developed

her saturated colour palette. Her innovative 'gravity painting' techniques

use rigid artboard to capture watermarks. Semi-abstract paint passages

suggest subtle rays of sunlight and disappearing mists set against sharper

winter trees and fields (explained in her book 'Capturing light - creating

radiant landscapes in watercolour' - Search Press 2023). She sketches in

pen and wash 'en plain air' but equally enjoys painting imaginary

landscapes in thick tubed paint in studio. She is an experienced tutor and

member of the Society of Women Artists.
