Following art school in Wales in the 1980's then several years in London as
a commercial artist, a passion for adventure in the wild outdoors took
Steve to Scotland. A past member of the Society of Industrial Artists &
Designers, he now holds a BA in Visual Communication, and is qualified in
education and training.
For over 25 years he has worked with students of all abilities, and now
also tutors online, on residential painting holidays, through his YouTube
channel ArtLearn Studio and in person at his studio in Fife. He exhibits at
galleries and events.

Steve was recently filmed at work whilst artist in residence at the Scottish Wildlife Trust Reserve in Argyll, featuring in an
episode of Grand Tours of Scotland's Lochs, aired regularly by BBC TV.
He knows that people learn best when they're enjoying themselves and believes that understanding the needs of each
painter is key. He's developed simple, fun and effective ways that motivate and support people to practice without
pressure, so they feel able to stretch beyond any pre-conceived boundaries. In short, he believes that he knows what
you need to know - and that it's his job to show you! He hasn't forgotten how it is to be a beginner, and shares his
knowledge freely.
