Join Mike to paint birds in combination with still life. An opportunity to

explore different textures and oil techniques whilst showing how these

two subjects can come together to tell a story.

Details

This 3 day course will allow your imagination to flourish and creativity flow

underpinned by techniques that will last a lifetime. Mike will demonstrate

each stage of the process and support everyone on a one-to-one basis to

get the best out of their ability and enthusiasm.

You will work from different imagery to create a composition. You will

learn how to draw on the canvas using a simple gridding system, how to

work with a limited palette, how to work with larger brushes for form and

smaller brushes for detail and how to produce an underpainting that

benefits the next painting stage. You will also learn the "whys and how

tos" of glazing.

Mike's enthusiasm for seeing every artist develop knows no bounds. He

believes that all painters are much better than they think they are and all it

takes to make a leap forward is confidence and knowledge. Both are

central to how he teaches. He doesn't favour fixating on what an artist

might see as negative in their painting, it is about recognising

achievements and using them to solve problems. There will be plenty of

tips and advice to make your painting easier and fulfilling. All reference will

be provided.
