Summary

Join Randy Hale on this exciting opportunity to paint in the picturesque

medieval town of Obidos and along the Silver Coast just north of Lisbon.

Holiday Details

There is so much to paint in and around Obidos from traditional houses

with pots, flowers and creepers to imposing buildings such as the Castle

and churches all within pedestrianised cobbled streets. We will probably

spend a couple of days in Obidos but there are also subjects outside of the

town including anything from impressive churches to small houses and

streets. We will also visit Caldas Da Rainha that has many historic

buildings, a market (some days) and a lake with reflections. We will also

visit the Silver Coast and paint coastal towns such as Nazare, Sao

Martinho do Porto and/or Peniche which include the imposing Fort of

Peniche.

About the Tutor

First and foremost, Randy wants his students to enjoy the painting

process and have fun. By taking a joyful approach, his workshops are

always uplifting and a positive experience for his painters. His

encouragement, along with concise and straight forward explanations of

the process are what help his students achieve immediate, successful

results!

Randy will encourage you to "look hard" at the subject you paint and take

a fresh approach to how you "see" a subject. Filtering detail to properly

assess a shape's value in comparison to the adjacent shapes is essential in

creating depth and the illusion of volume. Knowing what is important and

what to leave out is an important skill to learn and how to achieve glowing

results with a transparent medium are popular topics covered in his

workshops.

These tips are the secret to achieving more confident and dramatic

painting. By capturing the essentials, his style of painting is loose and

impressionistic. Randy's workshops are fun and a great opportunity to add

valuable skillsets to your painting toolbox!
